I did last time you said check out your church and gave a link. It was no different to our various creationist liars for Jesus sites though you don't seem to do magic healing services. Not sure of the link but the magic healing church round here is Renewal christian church Solihull, type those word into google and it should get you to it. Tuesday nights bring your sick and ill and we'll channel the holy spirit via the pastor. Think they were Elims but changed to free methodists. As for the other creationist churches round here? I've been invited to talks given by so called healed people at the Oasis Elim liars for Jesus (I declined) and testimonies are common at the other as well. All seem to be oblivious to the fact that modern science has played a huge part in their healing processes and that when that is declined they seem to die. Hence I'm not impressed at any attempts encouraging people to reject some real science (evolution) out of hand cos as I've said they then tend to reject all real science out of hand (eg chemotherapy)

As for inaccurate statements-you are the one that has referred to humanity in general as a bunch of worthless sinners, you are the one that has said that if folk with evil evolutionary tendencies wanted to join your church the creationist elders would lead them gently to creationism (ie subtly bully them into submission even if they felt uncomfortable-as ours do). I'm not sure if I've ever heard you call people unsaved so sorry-but our fundies do.

I can't help wandering if you are wheeled out as a resident scientist to assist in bashing any lasting resistance out of any that do continue to harbour evolutionary leanings in your church? That however is mere speculation on my part, based on what little I've seen of creationist churches and what I've seen of you. If you do not play such a role in your church I apologise profusely. If you do then you should be ashamed.

Ofqual have put their foot down re Goves plans to change gcses again as it is far to soon after the rewrites. His plans to return to linear single exams has been thwarted because as you all know eng and maths were rewritten last year and the new science specs have just been accredited to start in sept. It was in yesterdays times amongst wedding stuff.

Sue Kirkham Assoc School and College Leaders saind "gcses and A levels are so new (the new ones) that ofquals advice is that they would be reluctant to alter the specs in the near future" and added "People spend a long time preparing to teach specs and to change them again very rapidly is quite destabilising for teachers" hmm who are not very stable anyway (that was me not the article commenting there). "Awarding bodies need a miniumum of two years to redesign, consult, seek regulatory approval and train teachers before pupils begin to study new gcses which require a further two years study" The bit that makes me laugh here is that this means the changes Gove wants done won't come into force until after the next election ha ha. Did he not realise that rewrites usually have a shelf life of at least four years?

So the committees achievements with the textbook publishers will stand for a while yet. And gove will have egg on his face. Don't know what implications this will have for the nat curriculum rewrite tho. As it is still going ahead the times has also reported that headteachers have said work on changing exams structurally shouldn't start untill changes in eng, maths and science are phased in.

Just in case any of you were confused with the how science works part of the gcse, after 5 years on the syllabus I think this sums it up perfectly!

"I was in yesterdays times amongst wedding stuff." That - from 30 April - just caught my eye. Pity you have to pay to view The Times Online.

I'm glad, Miss Belfield, that there wasn't any mention of the abscissa. It always has me trying to run away whilst simultaneously crossing my legs!

Brian good isn't it. Don't you believe any of that stuff about dumbing down. :D Our HOD found it on scienceshare and we're having to show it to every year 10 group before they do their ISAs (the how science works coursework). Actually after 5 years it does just about sum up what 'how science works' has boiled down to and it is catchy heh heh. Don't worry we hit them with real science in year 11 and from sept it all changes again whoopee do.
