New Life - The Delusion of Evolution

Postby Robert » Tue Apr 19, 2011 12:37 pm

Newlife 'News Paper' came to my house yesterday, advertising this publication:

http://www.newlifepublishing.co.uk/delusion/

It is being touted as "an invaluable resource to students studying biology at school".

Has anyone ever seen a copy?

No i havent seen a copy

It seems to be typical of recent creationist ploys. first convince people of design and get them with the young earth lies later.

I came across New Kife Publishing a few years abck - seems to have a track record in publishing creationist material.

A quick look at the advertising for the booklet seems to suggest another disreputable organisation that uses deceit to push its position:

At £2.95 it's probably being published at well below cost,.

It has a go at Richard Dawkins'' The God Delusion whereas dawkins main recent books on evolution have been The Greatest Show on Earth and The Ancestor's Tail.

It is clearly of no relevence to science education in state schools.

Ah, yes, now I remeber New Life; I used to get their magazine. They are Pentecostals, IIRC and I'm afraid to say full of s**t. Pitched at the not very bright.

ISTR a Dutch organisation leafleting homes over there, but this looks more home grown. Complete with a couple of new names to look up!
"An excellent booklet! It covers the topics in a very clear and accessible way, and is very suitable for non-Christians and Christians, at the right price and quality standard."
Colin Garner PhD, Professor of Applied Thermodynamics
"The confident, uncompromising attitude is extremely refreshing, and the scientific input is strong and credible. An excellent resource for our congregations and particularly our secondary school children"
Stephen Redman, Minister, Ark Church, York
Garner's at Loughborough. Redman's church is here: http://www.the-ark.net/. It doesn't look frankly creationist, though its origin looks a bit nutty. It appears to be Elim, like the publisher.

At first I thought someone had made a typo and they really meant 'New Lie - the Delusion of Evolution'.

This has been advertised on internet search pages for a year or two and I actually sent off for a copy out of curiosity (third edition). But I've never got around to reading it! I believe the 'top atheist' they refer to is the late Anthony Flew.

PS Robert's link is to the fourth edition - same cover but different articles.

I've finally got around to reading this (I have the third edition, not the fourth). It's very one-sided - the articles assume the reader believes in God or that they want to, and that therefore they will reject godless ' chance' evolution and accept design arguments without question.

One of the one-sided articles by Andrew Halloway in the third edition - 'The cracks begin to widen' - tries to make hay after the publication of THIS New Scientist article in the edition dated 16 June 2007: http://www.science.org.au/nova/newscien ... ns_001.htm
