Evangelical Alliance - compromisers!

Postby a_haworthroberts » Tue Oct 29, 2013 11:26 pm

There's a short article entitled '60 seconds with Professor John Lennox' in the latest edition of 'Idea' magazine. Regrettably it's not yet available online here:
http://www.eauk.org/idea/sep-oct-2013-issuu.cfm

Lennox is quoted as saying "it's very important that church pastors learn how to address the big questions" and "a BBC survey a few years ago found the main reason given for leaving the Church, by far, was that it didn't answer people's questions".

Under the article, there are the following remarks: "Sixty per cent of respondents to our '21st Century Evangelicals' survey said questions around science hindered evangelism, while 50 per cent blamed the rise of the new atheist movement in making faith-sharing difficult. The Evangelical Alliance is therefore proud to endorse the DVD series 'Exploring the God Question' as part of our 'Confidence in the Gospel' campaign series.

More details of what the EA are endorsing are given here:

'Both sides' of the argument - theist and atheist - get to present arguments. Though of course there are at least two sides on science questions within Christian theism, as well as non-Christian theists.

"Dear Evangelical Alliance

Do you believe that the whole of the Bible is God's infallible Word and that it provides all the information we will ever need about the unobserved past of planet Earth, life and the universe as well as God's dealings with Mankind? If not, why not?

Do you accept that when the Bible talks of God sending a strong delusion, to make the wicked and those who refuse to believe the truth believe instead a lie from Satan, this means that science is in the hands of such unbelievers and therefore any science about the past which is not pro-Christian apologetics and which disagrees with Genesis chapters 1-11 is a lie of Satan? If not, why not?

Do you realise that because humans are sinful and rebellious and reject God, therefore they will always use 'science' to try and disprove God with evolutionary theories?

Do you appreciate that there is a huge difference between verifiable observational science which gives us our technology - and un-provable notions about the unseen past that are regularly presented to us by atheistic or non-Christian scientists as historical 'science'?

Do you accept that whilst naturalism may work when scientists do experiments or create new inventions, any investigations of the past which assume uniformitarianism (the present helps explain the past) and do not allow for supernatural intervention are doomed to failure and always will provide false 'answers'?

I am disturbed that you are allowing atheists a platform when examining and exploring The God Question. Whilst Biblical Creationists such as I scarcely get a look in.

Pastor 'Biblic' Al 'Creatio' Nist".
