Home Schooling in NI

Postby Peter Henderson » Tue Sep 16, 2014 1:28 pm

Interesting discussion on talk back earlier on Assembly plans to tighten up rules on home schooling in the province. There are over 1,000 children in the province who are home schooled apparently, though I'm not sure if it is all to do with religious reasons.

Mervyn Storey, a member of the education committee and a staunch YEC is opposing the motion and attempting to get support for a petition of concern. No doubt his reasons are obvious, though neither he nor the interviewer (Conner Bradford) mentioned YECism.

The other guest on the programme said nothing either about YECism being the reason why she home schooled her kids.

Today's edition should now be available on the iplayer.
