Rabble rouser Ken Ham and his biased Facebook fans

Creationist bloggers can be infuriating. If one has infuriated you by persisting in nonsense even when corrected, or refusing to reply to your criiticsm, you may feel driven to recording the fact. If so, you may register your disapproval here and hope a response is forthcoming.

''But if they’re really trying to prove a climate emergency, then shouldn’t the majority of scientists who contributed to the report be qualified environmental scientists? You would think so. But one researcher found that only 240—just 2%—of the scientists who signed the report were considered experts in climate-related fields.''
Whereas of course the likes of Ken Ham and his colleagues, the Cornwall Alliance, 'Cowboy' Bob Sorensen and Trump are all experts on climate and climate change. What utter conmen and conwomen (is that a word) these people at Answers 'in' Genesis are (I seriously doubt the sincerity of their pronouncements on this topic):
https://answersingenesis.org/outreach/e ... te-change/

And here's a link that the anonymous author of this denialist propaganda piece failed to include:
https://climate.nasa.gov/faq/17/do-scie ... te-change/

''Secular scientists approach the climate debate from an unbiblical perspective, believing that humans alone manage the rising temperatures.''
The perspective in question is NOT 'unbiblical' it merely relates to a subject on which the Bible is silent (the claim of scientists is that humans are influencing the climate and have altered the atmosphere and enhanced the greenhouse effect, not that they are suddenly controlling Earth's climate). This is not Christianity, it is an anti-science fundamentalist apologetics cult led by wilful liars and dangerous fools. And besides - Answers in Genesis (like the people they oppose) have an unbiblical perspective on whether to use the internet to disseminate their particular 'information' on scientific topics - surely they should know that the internet is 'unbiblical' and therefore they should be shunning it and even attacking its existence?

''But Christians know that God designed our magnificently complex climate and has promised that the present earth will be inhabitable until he creates a new heaven and a new earth (Isaiah 65:17).''
I'm not convinced this verse (something from Isaiah came up at a church meeting last night but I didn't take notes) teaches what this person is claiming (though the Bible as a whole does not teach that humans will become extinct before 'end times').

Besides the promise referred to is more likely to be kept if man-caused global warming is tackled by humanity and not ignored as these selfish and irresponsible bigots are demanding.

I also just saw this:

Young earth creationists almost always cherry pick their facts (and claimed facts) when launching their attacks upon present day realities. They simply cannot show scientifically that we are not facing a climate emergency (which climatologists have been warning for more than 30 years could arrive including when Margaret Thatcher warned about global warming during her, still, pro-science phase when Prime Minister). No deniers, not even those with relevant qualifications, have so far managed to do this.

But there is still time to reduce emissions and slow down or maybe halt global warming. Less time than there was 30 years ago.

On a more positive note, I could have mentioned this in last week's emails:
(I suspect he is aware of 'Christian' as well as 'secular' climate change science deniers.)
Anyone can opt out of any further messages in this vein.

Bigots and authoritarians

Postby a_haworthroberts » Thu Feb 27, 2020 7:39 pm

People at Answers 'in' Genesis, who say they are upholding 'biblical authority', have no moral or biblical mandate whatsoever to wilfully mislead people on the subject of human-caused ongoing global warming or to label the science in question 'secular' (meaning anti-Christian in some way) - this being a subject on which the Bible is SILENT. What AiG are pushing on this topic is (as well as reality denial) the fallible and downright deceitful word of Man and NOT the Word of God:
https://answersingenesis.org/the-word-o ... authority/
'Why are so many Christians intimidated by secular science?'
And anthropogenic climate change/global warming is happening now and NOT in the past. It is 'observational' science. As Avery Foley herself admits such science is ''directly testable, repeatable, and observable''.

But 'Cowboy' Bob Sorensen - who is unrepentant, arrogant, pig-headed and craving of an internet following - cannot or will not understand this basic truth:

Climate change/global warming LIARS

Postby a_haworthroberts » Fri Feb 28, 2020 5:17 pm

''If you scroll through the internet, more than likely, you’ll see an article or two about climate change. It’s the main topic of the day. Time magazine named teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg the 2019 Person of the Year, while Dictionary.com deemed existential their Word of the Year.
All this climate change chatter has people fearful over what’s supposedly coming. Find out more in this article from our latest Answers Magazine:
https://answersingenesis.org/environmen ... ot-air/?'' (As already shown here on 25 February, that article is a deliberate pack of LIES.)

It's more likely to be coming if people listen to liars like Ken Ham who arrogantly and selfishly pretend that action, especially cutting back greenhouse gas emissions, is not necessary to combat this urgent problem.

Meanwhile in the real world:

Ken Ham is a fake and a bigot. His claim to 'love' science is utterly bogus.

The world should listen to sane and honest Christians, not lying young earth creationist zealots, on this (non-biblical) topic.

Bigot Ken Ham's climate change lies: others tell the truth

(Some disagree with the Church of England commitment. Not because they are lying deniers of human-caused global warming like Ken Ham and Andrew Snelling and the Cornwall Alliance. But because they think the 2030 target is too ambitious ie it's unrealistic - I defer to others on that.)

From an email as sent on 1 March (the AiG liars were cc'ed)

(1) An interesting page if you have not already seen it (Dr Ruth Valerio of Tearfund interviewing six experts on topics related to her book 'Saying Yes to Life'):

(2) An interesting page in a different way - I am calling it 'Believing Lies, Defending Lies, Proclaiming Lies' (the video starts after a 30 second delay):
https://www.facebook.com/AnswersInGenes ... 623476640/
These people have weaponized bits of the Bible to form their own (ie not divinely inspired) 'biblical worldview' that is in reality an attack upon science and an undermining of attempts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions that we hope will slow down global warming and eventually, if it is not too late, halt it.
I counted TEN* (a nice round number as it happens) lies/made-up 'facts' uttered by these cynical and dangerous fools in this latest advertisement for their 'one of a kind' 'Climate Change Physical and Spiritual' Easter conference in the 'United States of America'. Christians including creationists should either boycott this event or attend as critics and spill the beans afterwards about the climate change claims that made. In my opinion. Answers in Genesis and co do not speak for Christianity on the subject of what science confirms is human-caused global warming and they are - for reasons unknown - misusing 'the Bible' to say in effect that there is nothing to worry about with the climate (as if they have right to interfere in efforts to avoid more potential poverty internationally). On the issue of climate change and its impacts they totally ignore human responsibility for the planet. As can be seen online - the Church of England, Tearfund, A Rocha, CAFOD and Operation Noah are among those Christian organisations that tell the truth about the science of physical climate change and the need for decisive action to protect the environment and humanity's future on a warmer planet. But Ham was right on one point - their conference will definitely be 'incredible'.

- The Jeff Bezos donation is 'not going to work' (because God is 'in charge');
- Earth is 'still recovering' from 'after the flood';
- The flood 'changed' Earth's climate (different afterwards to what it was beforehand);
- Known past changes of climate did not happen millions of years ago;
- All we're seeing today is 'fluctuations';
- We are 'just as likely to go back to a cooling trend';
- It's a 'spiritual' issue, that is people have to make a choice between 'God' or 'man's reasoning' ie these people in this video are claiming to speak for God in claiming (without biblical backing) that current global warming was not brought about by human activities that almost everyone agrees have altered the atmosphere;
- 'all these climate models have ultimately failed';
- there is 'observational science' (the only kind Answers in Genesis claim to believe in) that contradicts what many of these 'climate change alarmists' are actually saying (they may be making this particular false claim because not every detailed prediction has come about or come about yet);
- 'a lot of it is just hype' (not by the scientists it isn't).
