283,000,000,000:1 - it happens

A lesson for the creationists and their fallacious statistics: improbable doesn't mean impossible. In this case, despite those odds, a couple have won £1,000,000 on the lottery twice in two years.

Off topic: I think that at school I'd have been written that "a couple has won". Now it seems somehow not quite right to use the singular, there being two winners. Is it me getting sloppy, or is the language drifting? The linked article uses both singular and plural.
