Its been a hundred years since Arthur Holmes published his first 'date' beginning the use of radiometric dating.

I interpreted that as someone claiming the Earth is 100 years old this month.

I was about to berate you for poor science ;-)

Or perhaps that was your intent. It certainly got me to read it. :-D

Surely this means that the earth is now 4600000100 years old! (If I've got my 0's right.....)

Now it has aged more than that.

Holmes thought it was 1.7 by in 1911 and it's now 4.6 by

I wonder what Cathy's pal Marc says about this

No doubt they'll get ace mathematician Dembski to extrapolate back to zero at 6000-whatever yago. The ramifications escape me - does it mean everything is speeding up, or slowing down? Or perhaps both? :)

Actually Dembski is old earth and accepts 4.5 by but goes to bed with YECs. It is his fixation on naturalism whatever that is, which means he opposes the buulk of scientists including F Collins, gingerich, conay Morris and the rest
