TV Series - How God Made The English

In the new three-part series How God Made the English, Professor Diarmaid MacCulloch explores both what it means to be English and what has shaped English identity. In the first episode, Professor MacCulloch challenges the renowned notion that secular forces and the humanistic values of the Enlightenment have made the English who they are today. Rather, he shows that the roots of Englishness lie in a tangle of religious motives.

It turns out this was announced last Summer, but the Beeb says

Confirmed for Saturday 24 March on BBC Two at 7.45 - 8.45pm

and it doesn't say anything about its being a repeat.

Someone needs to disentangle his religion from his deity.

Just because an organised religion and/or group of adherants lays claim to being the cause of change, does not automatically mean their deity of choice is behind it. Especially if there's another faction of the same faith working to oppose it.

Diarmaid MacCulloch is well worth watching. He's exceedingly bright and talented.

Seems I was ill-informed: part 1 has just started, with no room on my recorder to save a copy. However good the man might be in his field, he sounds exceedingly silly and a terrible presenter. I doubt I shall bother concentrating or looking out for future installments. Total waste of space.
